How to leave FreeCRiM and keep your data

Most CRMs treat leaving as a data-recovery problem: an export button, a CSV that never quite matches what you saw on screen, a countdown before your account is deleted along with everything in it. FreeCRiM does not have that problem, because there was never a second copy of your data to recover.

Why there is nothing to export

Every company, contact and deal you have worked with in FreeCRiM is a row in an Excel workbook stored in your own Microsoft 365. FreeCRiM reads and writes that workbook; it does not hold a private database that is the only place your information exists. The cache the app keeps for speed is exactly that - a cache - and dropping it loses nothing, because it can always be rebuilt from the workbook.

What actually happens when you stop

  1. Disconnect Microsoft 365 from your account settings. FreeCRiM deletes its access token and its cache of the workbook's rows.
  2. The workbook stays where it is - in the same OneDrive or SharePoint location, in the standard .xlsx format, openable in Excel, Google Sheets, or anything else that reads a spreadsheet.
  3. Nothing about the file changes. No FreeCRiM-only formatting, no locked cells, no data that only makes sense inside the app.

If you want your account gone entirely

Disconnecting Microsoft 365 is enough to stop FreeCRiM touching your workbook. If you also want your FreeCRiM account itself deleted, contact support and we will remove it; your workbook is unaffected either way, because it was never ours to delete.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to export anything before I stop using FreeCRiM?
No. Your companies, contacts and deals are already rows in an Excel workbook in your own Microsoft 365; there is nothing to export because nothing was ever only inside FreeCRiM.
What happens to the workbook when I disconnect Microsoft 365?
The workbook itself does not move or change. FreeCRiM deletes its access token and its cache of the workbook's rows; the file stays exactly where you put it.
Can I come back later?
Yes. Reconnecting Microsoft 365 and pointing FreeCRiM at the same workbook picks up where the file left off.
